Dance Subjects

The School offers classes in:

Classical Ballet

Babies through to Advanced Level. A second class a week is encouraged from Grade 2 onwards. Technique is developed through the grades giving poise and confidence to the pupil. At the Chesham Arts Festival our school has been cup winner in the Junior Ballet Group for eleven consecutive years and in the Senior Ballet Group for six.

Modern Dance

This is a diverse form of dance which incorporates different styles of dance including Jazz. A ballet training is encouraged to help achieve and maintain a good modern style.

Hip Hop and Street Jazz

Street Dance is a fun, popular style, accessible to all, that began appearing in the USA in the 1970’s. Street Dance produces foundation techniques such as popping, locking, and waving, breakdance and funk. Within the professional dance industry, the relationship between street dance and modern/jazz technique is widely explored and used

 

Tap Dance

A rhythmic form of dance.

 

National Dance

National dance explores dance from other countries. This develops knowledge of culture and costumes of these countries.

GCSE Dance

National Dance

Starting again in September is a 2 year course which takes place on Monday evenings from 19:15 - 20:45. Please apply for this course via our e-mail address on Contact us - pupils taken from year 8 upwards.

Musical Theatre

These classes are run on Saturdays and are taught by Lee Bright. They are taught in three age groups and children are accepted from 5 years of age.

Private Lessons are also available in Singing/Drama and Musical Theatre.

ISTD (Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing) examinations are taken in Ballet, Modern, Tap and National dance.

Correct uniform is expected at all classes at all times. Uniforms are available from Dancers Boutique, Amersham.
