Dance Subjects

Many pupils within the school study more than one branch of dance. Each genre of dance compliments one another. The classical ballet gives the strength, deportment and carriage of body which is reflected in every kind of dance. The modern dance encourages a suppleness of body with increased strength which can then be used in developing street dance and contemporary modern work. Every child loves to tap and hear the sound of their feet and national gives the freedom and pleasure of dance and builds team work of children.
 Which ever you choose, despite working hard you will always have fun!

Student fee rates are available to parents in order for pupils to have the chance to study all branches of dance at reasonable prices.
 Timetables of classes also reflect this opportunity.

Classical Ballet

Babies through to Advanced Level. A second class a week is encouraged from Grade 2 onwards. Technique is developed through the grades giving poise and confidence to the pupil.

Ballet requires a discipline of the body, both mentally and physically, and is recommended to aid all other forms of dance.

National Dance

National dance explores dance from different countries. This develops knowledge of culture,music and costumes of various countries.

This genre of dance encourages group and partner work, and is an enjoyable form of dance, for any age, and ability.

Modern Dance

This is a diverse form of dance which incorporates different styles of dance including jazz, lyrical and contemporary. This subject also forms a good foundation for street dance and musical theatre. 
A ballet training is encouraged to help achieve and maintain a good modern style.

Tap Dance

Tap dance is a form of dance using the sound of one's tap shoes hitting the floor as a percussive instrument.
  • Rhythm tap - Rhythm tap focuses more on musicality 
  • Broadway tap - focuses more on the dance and is widely performed as a part of musical theatre.
