Mrs. Kelsey Leaf, Director of Fifth Grade Bands

Kelsey Leaf was born in south eastern Wisconsin near Milwaukee. She grew up in a musical household and began piano at age 8. Upon entering fifth grade she decided to keep family tradition alive and play the cornet. After entering high school, Kelsey switched to the french horn. This switch opened many opportunities in both school and beyond and she developed her love of music. After high school Kelsey attended the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point where she studied Music Education. During this time she conducted the UWSP Campus Band and was an active member in the Horn Club of Stevens Point.

She has performed and held section leader positions in the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point Wind Ensemble and Symphony Orchestra. Kelsey has also played in a number of small ensembles including: Horn Choir, Horn Quartet, Brass Ensemble, and Pit Orchestra. In addition, she has played in the Waupaca Civic Symphony Orchestra, Birch Creek Symphony Orchestra as a staff member, and bugled for Veterans Day, Fourth of July, and the Potawatomi Area Council Boy Scouts of America. Currently, she plays horn for the Green Valley Concert band and serves as the horn section leader.

Kelsey is currently an educator in the Santa Cruz Valley Unified School District #35 where she is the Co- Director director of the CTMS 8th Grade Band and serves as the director of the district's 5th grade band program. Kelsey was nominated and selected as Teacher of the Year 2017-2018 at CTMS.
