  • Information Regarding Phone Announcements
Sangamon Valley uses a telephone program to communicate with parents regarding early dismissals or school closings.  In the event that an announcement needs to be made, you will see the phone number (844)841-1454 on your caller ID.  You may want to add this number to your contacts for future calls, so that you know when an important message is being sent out.

  • Welcome from the Superintendent
I would like to take this opportunity to thank our maintenance and custodial crews as well as the support staff who worked diligently over the summer to improve our Sangamon Valley campuses. I truly believe that the buildings are looking as good as they have since I came to this district in 1994.  I would also like to thank the Board of Education for helping to provide the vision and support needed to move forward with these projects.

After some delays in the construction of the new science lab at the High School, we are almost ready to begin renovation.  I appreciate the willingness of our staff and students to work through the distractions that often come with projects of this size. However, I believe the end result will be well worth the inconvenience.  The project is expected to be complete by January 4, 2017.  This will provide our students an opportunity to utilize the lab the entire second semester.

In the coming weeks, the board will be discussing the possibility of attendance centers.  The attendance center model involves grouping students by grade levels within a particular building.  Pre-K through second grade students would attend Sangamon Valley East Elementary.  Students in third through fifth grades would attend Sangamon Valley West Elementary.  There will be benefits both educationally and financially for the school district.  These benefits will be discussed during the August 17th Board of Education meeting held at the High School Library at 7pm.  Families are welcome to attend this meeting and become more informed about this education model as well as the positive impact it will have on our students.

I am very excited for the 2016-2017 school year.  We have accomplished a great deal over the past year, but there is still a lot of work yet to be done.  With the vision of the Board of Education, the support of the community, and the leadership of the administration and staff, Sangamon Valley School District will continue to be a wonderful place for our students to learn and grow.
