Principal's Sunday Message

Week 23

posted Feb 15, 2018, 2:59 PM by Ryan Brock

Good evening Panthers! Last week included a real mix of emotions. From the high of a middle school dance directly into a low of the tragedy in Florida. Our hearts go out to all of the families affected by this terrible act and if your child shows sign of concern, please encourage him or her to talk with school staff.

8th Grade Parents: Thursday 2/22 Serra Counselors will be on campus to talk to the 8th grade students about course selections for Serra High. They will also be on campus that night at 6pm to talk to you about the course offerings at Serra. There are big improvements on that campus and this is a good way to learn about them!

This Week at De Portola
  • Monday: No School!
  • Wednesday: All E's Celebration
  • Wednesday: Stress Management Presentation for Parents 6pm, Media Center
  • Thursday: 9th Grade Articulation Meetings
  • Friday: Perfect Attendance Celebration
Notes from the De Portola Team
  • Many children are getting flu symptoms. People with the flu may be able to infect others from 1 day before getting sick to 5-7 days after. Keep your child home from school for at least 24 hours after their fever is gone without the use of medicine like Tylenol, Advil or Motrin. If your child is out ill for more than 2 days please bring in a doctors note to the attendance office to excuse the absences.
  • JS2S would like to thank all students and staff who supported our Valentine's Day Rose fundraiser! We will be using the funds to support activities to welcome new students to DePortola and celebrate military students this April for Month of the Military Child! Thank you again for your support! If you are interested in joining Jr. Student 2 Student, we meet on Wednesdays at lunch in the back of the library.
  • Students who earned all E's for the Fall 2017/18 Semester will have a celebration on Thursday, February 22nd during lunch. The "All E's Only Electronics Day" will be during lunch in Weiner Hall. Letters to students and parents will be sent home Tuesday. Congrats!!

Special thanks go out to Mrs. Fore for all of the organization behind the scenes!
