Sam Hughes Announcements
Our wonderful school has a long tradition of hosting a K - 5 Science Fair with high participation and innovative experiments. Judges regularly comment on the high level of quality, making it difficult to choose projects for SARSEF, the regional fair. Last year, students submitted over 125 projects. 14 moved forward to SARSEF and 9 of these won awards, including two 1st-place winners. We plan to keep up the good work in 2016!
You can stop by the office to pick up a guide to coming up with your own science fair projects. If you already know what you need, you can download the registration form attached to this post.
If you have further questions, please contact Hope Reed, our science fair coordinator, at 622-1301 or email@example.com.

Hello, Sam Hughes families!
This week is Wellness Week, and we're participating in school spirit activities to celebrate it.
On Saturday morning, August 8, 2015, in Tucson, a groundbreaking collaboration took place—the African American Parent Conference. Parents, educators, local law enforcement, community members and national speakers came together with one goal in mind: student achievement.
PLEASE SAVE-THE-DATE: TUESDAY SEPTEMBER 1st FOR THE SAM HUGHES MEET YOURSELF POTLUCK from 5:30 PM until 7:30 PM!
The Sam Hughes Meet Yourself Potluck is right around the corner!
This annual potluck is the event where our community can learn about what is going on in the school! Are you curious about extracurricular activities at Sam Hughes E.S., PTA events, Site Council candidates, after-school enrichment classes in the Community School, and/or news about our Sam Hughes neighborhood?
We’ll have representatives of all kinds of school groups there to explain to you how your child and you can participate! It is a great opportunity to learn more about our families and enjoy some tasty food and drinks! And you can also enjoy the Scholastic Book Fair in the library!
Please read below how you can help:
|News from TUSD Transportation Department: School starts August 6th and planning is well underway. In order for your child to be guaranteed transportation on the first day of school, your child must be eligible to receive transportation and you must have your child registered at their school of attendance prior to May 15th, 2015. You will receive your bus stop information two weeks prior to the start of school via U.S. Mail. Parents who have parental access accounts can also get routing information on the Transportation page of TUSDStats. Parents may be responsible for transporting students who are enrolled after May 15th. Change in residential address, alternative address, or school of attendance after May 15th will also result in delayed transportation routing. For any questions or additional information, please visit the TUSD website at www.tusd1.org or call the Transportation Department at 225-4800.|
