Early Kindergarten

 Welcome to EK!

Early Kindergarten, or EK, is a bridge between Pre-K and Kindergarten for students turning five from September 1-December 31  and students who may need an additional year of social and instructional support. EK provides our early learners with an opportunity to learn and grow in academic, social and emotional areas in a nurturing, developmentally appropriate environment. EK allows our littles to gain confidence in themselves as learners to be successful in Kindergarten and beyond.

The developmental needs of students in the EK program are best served by capping the number of students accepted into the EK. Students may be considered to be for Pre-K if there are slots available.

EK provides:

~Language Arts experiences including Shared Reading through big books, engaging stories, poems and rhymes.

~Math opportunities with manipulatives that allow for hands on exploration of concepts.

~Writing activities that include drawing pictures that tell a story while the teacher supports labeling/description, as well as activities designed to develop fine motor skills.

~Social Studies and Science thematic units helping students connect with the world all around us.

~Music and Movement opportunities that enhance gross motor development.

~Play based centers that encourage social, emotional, and language development.

The EK experience is a full day program and includes daily Specials,

rest, lunch and recess twice a day. It is  well-balanced with continued and various opportunities of quiet and active activities. It is a warm, exciting, engaging year for our young learners!

Please feel free to contact me directly with any questions regarding our EK program! I am delighted to teach EK and look forward to working with you and your child!
