Trimester Grade Information

Students are assessed in Media on a trimester basis.  The grades will be included with the students' general classroom report card.  Assessed skills will be addressed in 3 areas (circulation, literature, technology), with the specific skills for each trimester outlined at the appropriate time.  Assessments and rubrics are established for each trimester, based upon the lessons covered during that grading period.

The grading skill will be as follows:

1 =  Beginning level: Demonstrates beginning understanding; requires frequent assistance; willing to try

2 =  Developing level:  Understands behavior, concepts or skills; requires some guidance; completes tasks

3 =  Secure level: Understands, applies, and extends behavior, concepts, or skills; is proficient; demonstrates independent work habits; self-motivated

Using the computer:
Logging in without assistance; opening Google Chrome and navigating the Author/Illustrator and opening specific websites; navigating the Media homepage and then to Student Resources; opening and working within a specified website; quitting out of Google Chrome; opening and setting up Paintbrush; utilizing specific tools; quitting out of Paintbrush; logging out
 
Kindergarten

Identifying both parts of a call number and the type of book (Everybody/Fiction, Fiction/Chapter, or Nonfiction), based on the call number (using an online assessment)

Logging in without assistance;  opening Google Chrome and navigating within the Media website; quitting out of Google Chrome; opening and setting up Paintbrush; utilizing specific tools; quitting out of Paintbrush; opening Microsoft Work; typing specified words (using the shift key to properly capitalize); quitting out of Word; logging out

Logging in without assistance;  opening Chrome; locating and downloading a template from the Media Work handout folder; quitting out of Chrome; removing the template from the Downloads folder; opening the Microsoft Word document; typing with proper spacing and spelling; formatting according to specific instructions (style, style, color); quitting out of Microsoft Word; placing the document into the Trash; signing in to Google Drive; creating a new Google doc; naming the doc and typing in it; removing the doc; signing out of Drive; quitting out of Google Chrome; logging out


2nd Grade

Determining both parts of a call number and book type (Everybody/Fiction, Fiction/Chapter or Nonfiction), as well as location within the Media Center, for 4 different books (using an online assessment tool)

Logging in without assistance;  opening Chrome; navigating to Google Drive; creating and naming a new Google slide presentation; entering and formatting text; deleting unused text boxes; adding a new slide; inserting and formatting an image; removing the slide presentation; signing out of Drive; locating and downloading a template from the Media Work handout folder; quitting out of Chrome; removing the template from the Downloads folder; opening the document and typing with proper spacing and spelling; formatting words for size, style, color; quitting out of Word; placing the document into the Trash; logging out
