Cross Curricular Resources

Digital Scholastic News
Provides digital editions of Scholastic News, accessible by grade level; also contains videos, skill builders, and other activities
(access to magazines may require username/password from your classroom teacher)

 Discovery Education
Contains videos, video clips, images, and clip art images to enhance the learning experience;  students may log in with the username ha-student and password student; staff may contact their media specialist for specific educator username and password

 An electronic database for reference and research

Grolier Online Kids

Online databases containing searchable information in encyclopedia articles, magazines, and Websites


Allows for searching a variety of topics in kid-friendly terms

Book Flix

 Collection of age-appropriate databases providing reliable resources for students;  also provides links to recommended Websites for both parents and children

Saline District Library
Offers remote access to databases, library catalog, Internet resources, and youth services

Scholastic Computer Lab Favorites

50 one-stop learning activities; 15-30 minutes each

Scholastic:  The Stacks
Contains information about books, authors, and reading in general

Allows students the opportunity to practice all of the Common Core standards for math and reading; students can one through the standards at their own pace and teachers/parents can modify the content to meet the needs of specific students
(some content requires a subscription)

Provides a way to link fact and fiction by pairing classic video storybooks with related nonfiction titles




Provides a comprehensive guide to children's literature

Contains a compilation of favorite read-aloud titles

Contains instant poetry forms - available through the Educational Technology Training Center of New Jersey

Provides online teaching materials for the elementary classroom, such as printable worksheets, activities and lesson plans; contact  your building media specialist for username/password information

Offers an online collection of animated, talking picture books; login may be required but is available through many public libraries

Vocabulary A-Z
Provides hundreds of customized vocabulary lessons related to parts of speech, high frequency words, Dolch sight words, etc.; contact your building media specialist for username/password information (which is not the same as the Reading A-Z information)

National Library of Virtual Manipulatives
