Ms. Soenen: I have been an elementary teacher in Saline for thirteen years. I am a graduate of Eastern Michigan University where I received a degree in Elementary Education. My major is in Language Arts and my minor is in Science. I completed my Master’s Degree in the Art of Teaching, through Marygrove College in December 2001. In June of 2003, I married Jerry Salame, a Saline graduate. My husband works for Crain’s Communication. He sells advertising for the magazine Automotive News. Two years ago this past March, we had our first child, Shelby Shay. She was born March 2, 2006. We also just had our second daughter, Emmerson Grace, on July 24, 2009. They are the most precious gifts in our lives. We also have two dogs, a yellow lab, Maize and a chocolate lab, Remy.
Mrs. Kargel: I started teaching nine years ago and I absolutely LOVE it! Second graders are so much fun! I graduated from Western Michigan University and have my Master’s Degree from Marygrove College as well. I grew up in Chelsea and am currently a Saline resident. My husband Andy and I have been married for six years. In fact, we got married exactly one week before Ms. Soenen and her husband! Andy is a P.E. teacher at Central Elementary School in Linden. We welcomed our first child, Kalle, on November 3, 2005. Our youngest child, Jack, was born on April 28, 2007. My kids are a ton of fun. I love spending time with my family!
