High School Violinists and Violists

Congratulations on being selected to the 2012 MSBOA All-State High School Orchestra!

We apologize for the difficulty that you experienced and the fact that you needed to re-submit your audition. It was the only option available to us. Again, “Thank You” to you and your director.

Now, in order to speed up the process, could you please email us immediately at msboa@msboa.org with your acceptance, your name, instrument and mailing address so that we can send out your music as soon as possible.

Example:

I accept the violin position.

John Doe

1234 Main St.

Anytown, MI 54321

Then download the paperwork, complete the application and health form, other forms (shirts, CD’s etc. if desired,) and check and send that to our state office ASAP.

We would also appreciate knowing if you can not accept the nomination so that we can offer a position to the next student.

Congratulations again and we hope to hear from you immediately.

Carwash Fundraiser: Saturday, September 17, 2011

posted Sep 7, 2011, 4:02 PM by Ben Culver

Saturday, September 17th, 8am-5pm Heritage/Woodland Meadows Parking Lot

HERE IS HOW IT WORKS: Band, Orchestra and Choir Students (Grades 7-12) collect pledges and then work together with parent

volunteers to wash the equivalent of 1000 cars between 8am and 5pm on September 17th, 2011. Students will sign-up and receive a pledge sheet in music class. Approximately 40 students are needed to staff each shift. Students sign up in their band, orchestra or choir class.

50% of all individual pledge dollars collected by each student (whether they work the car wash or not) goes into a student’s personal account which can be used for anything musical-related (e.g.: CDs, instrument repair, lessons etc.)

The top 3 pledge collectors will win the following;
1st place Apple iPod touch, 2nd place iPod Nano, 3rd place iPod Shuffle

The shifts for students and parents are the same: 7:30-9:30am (includes set-up), 9:30-11:30am, 1:30-3:30pm and 3:30-5:30 pm (includes clean-up). Approximately 20 parents/guardians are needed to supervise/support students during each shift.

Adult support is essential to the success of this event! We need YOU to volunteer for the whole day, all morning, all afternoon or just a shift. We need ADULTS for Powerwash, Suds, Rinse, Dry and Appreciation stations. We also need help organizing refreshments for the workers who are there all day and folks to wash and return towels after the event. IF YOU CALL ASAP, YOU’LL HAVE FIRST DIBS TO SUPERVISE A “WET” OR “DRY” STATION.

This event is always a success because Students, Teachers and Parents work together towards a common goal-and IT IS FUN!

Michigan School Band and Orchestra Association asks that you use the following link to gain valuable information regarding the happenings within the state senate, house and governor's office.  This will help better encourage our legislators to solve the school funding crisis as opposed to delaying any solution further and causing disruption for our students' education in all areas including music.  Please help MSBOA help you by enrolling in these updates.

Our new website features Google Calendars which affords families an easy way to access what's going on in class.  We'll post concert information, assignments and due dates, practice goals, etc.  We've already put these calendars on each of the class websites, but you can also add them to your Google account (free) so their events show up on your own calendar, sync them with iCal, and much much more.

Here's a list of the calendars we've shared publicly:

Here's a link to Google Calendar Help if you need it.  Happy Calendaring!
