Principal's Message

Principal's Message

Welcome to Mission Park School. Like most other schools in this district, we have 3 main goals: to increase academic achievement, to maintain a positive school culture and climate, and to encourage parent and community involvement.

Our teachers are skilled and hard working. You should see the Common Core State Standards being taught and technology being used in each classroom, and I encourage my staff to emphasize the 21st Century skills of Communication, Creativity, Collaboration and Critical Thinking.  To further our academic goals, we provide reading intervention during the day, and have been working to expand enrichment opportunities afterschool and on weekends.

We pride ourselves on being a Positive Behavior Intervention and Support  (PBIS) school with a warm culture and climate. Students know our 3 main expectations of being Responsible, Respectful, and Ready to Learn. We recently won an award from the Monterey County Office of Education for the sustainability of our PBIS program. For more information, please check out the Behavior tab on this site. Our behavior interventions include a schoolwide Olweus anti-bullying curriculum.

Our school is fortunate to have many parent volunteers who help in classrooms, participate in PTA, and run our fundraisers. It is a pleasure to see parents coaching our sports teams, organizing the yearbook, and chaperoning field trips on a regular basis. We also have monthly cafecitos conducted in Spanish to discuss how to improve services to English Learner students.

I encourage you to be involved in your child's education. We all benefit when we work as a team.
