6th grade literature:  We are working on the short story The Marble Champ in our Gary Soto compilation.  We will be starting our new book, Facts of Life by Gary Soto, on Monday, November 19th.  If you have not purchased the book yet, please visit Amazon or Barnes and Noble Booksellers to do so.  Thank you very much.

6th grade writing:  We are working on dependent and independent clauses this week.  We will transition to persuasive essays later in the week.

7th grade literature:  We have completed Chapter 3 of the classic novel Animal Farm by George Orwell.

7th grade writing:  We are writing an essay based on an article about homeless athletes in Sports Illustrated.

8th grade literature:  We will be working on a book report about Strong Inside to start the week, and we will finish the week watching the documentary Ghosts of Ole Miss.  The documentary is about the integration of the University of Mississippi, which is mentioned several times in Strong Inside.

8th grade writing:  We will be working on persuasive essays this week.  The students compiled a list of 15 topic choices, and they will be given research and writing time in class.  The persuasive essay grades will be the first grades of the second trimester.
