Welcome back to Saint Mary’s. I hope that your summer was both relaxing and enjoyable. This school year looks to be our most exciting and productive ever!
My name is Mrs. Melinda McCartney and I am going to be your math teacher for the 2013-2014 school year. While I am new to Saint Mary’s, I am not new to teaching. I have been teaching for over 18 years and I have taught in 4 different states (New York, Colorado, Pennsylvania, and California.) Through the years, I have gained valuable knowledge and experiences in the field of math education and I have selected the best practices to use in my classes to make them the most productive and memorable for my students.
As my student, I feel that it is important for you to understand my philosophy of teaching. While I believe that my main responsibility is to teach you mathematics, I do not believe that it is my sole task. I feel that it is also my duty to support you in your other classes and outside endeavors. I want you to know that I am here for you. Let me know how I can help.
Please feel free to stop by my classroom before or after school for a chat, extra math help, etc. I look forward to becoming reacquainted with those returning students and to meeting the new ones.
