Weekly Update

Kindergarten… Week of 10/23-10/27

Thank you to all who went to the Fall Harvest last night. It was a fun night, and it was great to bring back the clothing and music from the 80s.

Picture retakes will be taken tomorrow Monday, 10/23.

This Friday, 10/27 is a Dress Down Day. Proceeds will be going to our animal friends at Hi Tor Animal Shelter.

Friday evening is also the Halloween Party in the gym for grades PreK-4.

Below are our lessons for the week:

Math - This week in math we will be counting, reading and writing to the numbers 8, 9 and 10. We will work on finding ways to make 10.

Reading – Our book this week is Flowers. We will be discussing vocabulary words such as seeds, fruits, buds, stem, bloom and petals. They will be asked to identify the initial /a/. We will discuss nouns for more than one. We will continue to compare and contrast while reading the story. Our sight words this week are: for, he, ran and with.

Religion- The children will recognize how friends care for and help each other. We will discuss the Great Commandment: love God and love your neighbor as yourself.

Handwriting- This week we will focus on the letters A and S. Letters always start at the top and lines go across from left to right. Below is the wording that will be used in class.

A – Slant left, slant right, slide left

a – Circle back all the way around. Pull down straight.

S- Curve back; curve forward.

s- curve back; curve forward.

Enjoy the rest of the week and as always if you  have any questions, please let me know.

Sincerely,

Mary Woods
