Weekly Update: November 19th - November 20th

Dear Parents,

There will be a dress down day on Monday, 11/26 as a thank you to the children for joining in the Thanksgiving food collection.

We will celebrate a Mass of Thanksgiving at 8:10 Tuesday morning. Father Raaser is providing a "Breakfeast" for the whole school following Mass. We will feast on a hot breakfast and share entertainment with each other.

Our vacation begins after school on Tuesday as there is no school this Wednesday.

The eighth grade worked hard in the first quarter and report cards were good. It was nice to meet with you last Thursday even as we experienced the first ugly weather of the season. I wish you and your families a happy and healthy Thanksgiving. God Bless.

Have a good week.

We will begin to examine the Progressive Era.

The 7th grade will learn about life in the southern colonies.

We will continue to study the civilization of Ancient Egypt.  We will begin to organize the major events in Egyptian history by creating a timeline.

In 5th grade, we will complete the unit on Human Geography and learn about some current topics in the news.

The value we will concentrate on in November is Docility.

We have begun the Church History unit and will spend the rest of the semester examining the history of the Catholic Church from the time of Jesus right up to the twenty-first century. There are six major time periods, and this unit will require a bit more preparation than most Religion classes.
This Tuesday we will have a test on the time period of 100 AD - 500 AD. We will then begin to study the Church's role and challenges during the first part of the Middle Ages, known as The Dark Ages.
