Volunteering for PTO

The St. Bridget PTO runs a wide variety of family, kid and parent-oriented events and activities throughout the year. These many activities often require a host of people to be successful and therefore is a great opportunity to volunteer at Saint Bridget School. Please read over the descriptions and see what the PTO has planned. If there is a need for volunteers, it is included with the description. Please contact either the Chairperson, or a PTO Board Member. The time you spend volunteering at SBS is priceless and appreciated more than you will ever know!

Book Fair

Volunteers will be needed to assist students in picking out appropriate books and staying within the budget set by their parents. Coordinators will also need to help with set-up and breakdown of this springtime Book Fair. Average time commitment: 45 minutes.


Comedy Night

Join us for one of the funniest evenings you’ll ever have! This year’s event is scheduled for November 5. The Committee will assist the Chairperson with the printing and distribution of tickets, set-up and breakdown the night of the event, shopping for paper goods and appetizers, and decorating the School hall. Average time commitment: 2-3 hours.


Family Fun Day – Vicki Peterson, Chair

Join us at this spring event, an outdoor family fun favorite. Games, food, face painting, bouncy house –great fun to be had! Volunteers are needed to assist in booking events, suggesting new ideas and helping with set-up and breakdown the day of the event, as well as running activities or concessions. Average time commitment: 1-2 hours.


Giving Tree – Katie Amighi, Chair

Located right at the top of the stairs to the front desk of the School is the Giving Tree. Started by a former parent, and continuing the tradition, the Tree hold ‘wishes’ from teachers and staff for materials they would like in their classrooms—added items that make the learning day that much more engaging. You pick an Apple, forward it and payment to the front desk staff, and the Giving Tree coordinator will purchase and forward the desired item - with recognition for your generosity! A great way to supplement a teacher’s environment!


Grocery Store Gift Card Program – Roberta Cristorfori, Chair

Do you shop at Stop & Shop, Roche, Bros./Sudbury Farms, Shaw’s or Whole Foods? Consider purchasing store gift cards for your weekly shopping trips and the school will receive 5% for each gift card purchased. It’s as easy as that! There is no cost to you, it streamlines the shopping experience (no credit or debit receipts to sign) and the school consistently nets a hefty profit. Halloween Party – Tricia Cincotta and Courtney Collins, Chairs

The Halloween party is THE social event of the year for grades K1-5!  Costumes, games, a haunted house, and cake walk all make for an evening of fun for our children. Volunteers are needed to plan the evening, set-up and clean up after the event, and assist with the fun and games and food the night of the party. This is also a great opportunity for older students with volunteer hours to fulfill to get involved. (Do they still need hours?  Didn’t someone say they didn’t?) Average time commitment: 1-2 hours.


Annual Auction – Jenn Ryan (JR), Chair

Join the committee and help generate new and exciting ideas for the biggest fundraisers PTO sponsors every year. Committee members are responsible for assisting in procuring items for the Silent and Live Auctions and assisting the night of the Auction.


School Supplies – Chris and Jenn Ryan (JR), Chairs

Orders are taken in the spring for the following year’s school supplies. The Committee will help the Chairperson place orders, and upon arrival of supplies in the summer, sort supplies at the school for the students to pick up on Visiting Day. Average time commitment: 1-2 hours.


Kids’ Pajama Bingo Night – Paula Barbosa, Chair

The children will enjoy an evening of playing this fun game and the thrill of shouting out BINGO—all while in their favorite pj’s! The Chairperson will need many hands to help shop for treats, set-up, assist in the game, and clean up. Average time commitment: 1 hour.


Lunch Volunteer Coordinator – Katie Davenport, Chair

This Chairperson coordinates volunteers for lunch.


Room Parents – Mary Nolan, Chair

Room parents are vital in assisting teachers with special events in the classroom. This is a great position for working and stay-at-home parents alike. Each classroom requires 2 parents. This is a great way to not only get to know the teachers in the school, but your children’s classmates and as well.


Santa’s Secret Shoppe – Dede Anderson, Chair

It’s the most wonderful time of the year! This is by far the sweetest event, as you help the students learn the meaning of giving instead of receiving. The Committee will help set up the shop at School, help the children purchase modest gifts for their family based on their budget, and assist in checkout and breakdown at the end of the event. Average time commitment: 1-2 hours.


Square One Art – Diane Desautelle, Chair

This is one of St. Bridget’s most popular fundraisers. Students design their own artwork which will be featured on quality products for purchase. Just in time for the holidays, these items make great Christmas gifts. The Coordinator will need assistance distributing orders upon arrival from the company. Average time commitment: 30 minutes.


Teacher Appreciation Lunches – Jennifer Browne, Chair

Twice a year, the parents host a Teacher Appreciation Lunch, to express our gratitude to our wonderful staff for all they do. The Coordinator will need donations of food and money to host beautiful luncheons befitting of our great teachers and staff. Help will also be need in setting up, serving and breaking down the events. Average time commitment: 1-2 hours.


Used Uniform Closet and Sale – Suzanne Richardson, Chair

Volunteers help the Coordinator keep the Used Uniform Closet neat and organized. They also assist the Coordinator in bi-annual sales events to clear the closet of inventory. Proceeds from the sale of uniform pieces are donated to the HAS (Help A Student) Fund.


Welcoming Committee -- Molly Judge and Deanna DesChamp, Chairs

The Committee will assist the Chairs by helping new families feel comfortable with the School, its policies and procedures. Some events and responsibilities include a wine and cheese reception for new parents, a playdate in the park for new students and their parents, and a willingness to be a ‘buddy’ family available to new families and their many questions. Average time commitment: 30-60 minutes.
