Guest Teacher General Information & Procedures
Last minute absences:  Our teachers are instructed to report in their last-minute absences prior to 5:30 AM on the day they will be out.  The computer system begins call-out at 5:30 AM.  It calls until all jobs are filled, or until the unfilled jobs are about 30% complete.
Late calls:  Late calls do occur, and the computer system will call out whenever a job is reported.  If you accept a late assignment, arrangements will be  made to accommodate preparation and travel time.  Please contact the school where you will be working to let them know what time you will arrive.

Important note:  Teachers are not permitted to make arrangements directly with a substitute.  Every assignment must be set up through the computer system.  If two substitutes arrive at school to cover the same class, the substitute with the properly assigned job number will stay and work.
Arrival Time:  Guest Teachers are expected to report to the campus office 30 minutes before school starts.  Sign in with the secretary and fill out a time sheet before going to class. The absence start time should reflect the 30-minute early check in.
Arriving at school:  Please arrive on time, even if you know the teacher you are replacing has first period as planning time (for the High School and Middle School).  On occasion, schedules change.  Your prompt arrival will ensure that there are no classes without coverage if there is a change in the schedule for the day.
Before leaving:  You must sign out with the secretary in the front office prior to leaving campus for any reason.
Evening Call-Out for Future Jobs:  The computer calls from 5:00 to 9:00 PM, Sunday through Thursday.  Friday call-out is from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM.  There is no call-out on Saturday.
To Our Middle School & High School Guest Teachers: Please plan to stay on campus until the end of the school day, even if the teacher whom you’ve replaced has last period as planning time.  More often than not, you will be free to go when the last class leaves, but please do not assume that you may leave unless the site secretary confirms it.  If you are needed for coverage in other locations, you will be asked to stay until the end of the day.
Elementary Guest Teachers:  May sign out once all students have been escorted to the buses
Guest Teacher Pay:  $95.00 for a full day (over 4-hours) and $47.50 for a half day (4-hours or less).
Long-Term Pay:  If you work more than 20 consecutive school days in the same class-room, the pay rate increases from $95.00 per day to the daily rate of $140.00 per day.  This increase will be effective on the 21st day and continue until the assignment ends.

Cancellations:  Guest Teachers will not have an assignment canceled on the morning that they are scheduled to work.  However, assigned days are subject to cancellation up until 9:00 PM the evening before.  If a cancellation occurs, the computer system will automatically open your profile to receive calls.
Coverage for Jury Duty:  In the event that a teacher has requested a day off due to jury duty, plan to work unless you hear otherwise.  If their assignment is cancelled, the teacher will report this to the computer system.  You will be notified and opened up to receive assignments.
Availability:  It is very important for you to make a habit of maintaining an accurate schedule in the computer system.  Please use the schedule and  unavailable date settings in your profile to keep your personal calendar updated.  This will help us avoid wasted call-out time trying to reach guest teachers who are not available to work.  Excessive numbers of missed calls are tracked.
Payroll:  Payroll is processed every two weeks.  Please maintain your own calendar in order to track days worked and days paid.  If you have any questions or concerns with pay, please let Monica know as soon as possible.
Pay Periods:  District pay periods are often disrupted by school holidays.  Please contact Monica if you have any questions or concerns about payroll deadlines.  A calendar and listing of payroll deadlines is on this website to assist you.
Questions:  Please do not hesitate to ask.  You may contact anyone, including Monica, the Human Resource Staff members, or school administration if you have any problems, questions, or concerns about your day.  Neighbor teachers and classroom aides are also excellent resources.
Job Solicitation:  Please do not use District resources such as teacher voice mail and email to contact teachers in an effort to solicit jobs.  “Blanket” job solicitations are not permitted.

Thank you for your support and cooperation!
