“Make each day your masterpiece.” John Wooden
Welcome to our new year!

Happy New Year! We hope everyone had a chance to rest over the holiday break. May we suggest that students re-focus their efforts to include reading daily, practicing math skills, regular exercise or healthy eating & living habits (getting enough sleep) in order to keep their bodies healthy and ready to learn.

Academic Expectations
Students are expected to come to school ready to learn, with an attitude of cooperation. I like to think that our classroom is a smaller version of what students will experience in the "real world". The success we achieve is greatly enhanced by the effort we exert. There are times when "life doesn't seem fair", but thankfully, every day is a new day - with new opportunities.

Grading Policy
Work collected will be corrected by the teacher. There are times when classwork is not collected, especially if we have gone over the correct answers together. (Classwork is given for practice of skills being taught.)We use a four-point grading system and for many assignments a rubric will be provided to give specific grading criteria.
4 - performs above and beyond grade level expectations
3 - meets the expected fifth grade level
2- partially meets the expected fifth grade level
1 - work is significantly below what is expected
