A Little About Me

My name is Valerie Ledoux. I have been a Kindergarten teacher at Sacred Heart School for 5 years. I absolutely love teaching and cannot imagine doing anything else. I knew I wanted to be a teacher after having amazing teachers, especially Mrs. Pietrafitta, when I attended Sacred Heart from kindergarten through sixth grade. I am currently pursuing my Masters of Education at Bridgewater State University. It's important to me to continue to learn new things so that I can best teach each child! I also really believe in home-school communication for any child to be successful. Please call or email me at any time, I am always available!

Classroom News

Language Arts/Phonics

We continue to review the alphabet. We will be practicing the letters b, r, f, n, e, and s in the next few weeks. Please use flashcards to practice letter recognition and letter sounds with your child. This is very important so your child can begin reading soon. You can buy alphabet flashcards at Walgreens and other local stores.

We are practicing or will be practicing these sight words: a, an, and, at, can, have, he, I, in, is, it, like, look, my, see, she, that, the, to. Keep practicing these words at home.
Find these words in stories or play a memory game!

Your child is also working hard to print sentences with the correct capitalization, spaces, and punctuation.

Rhyming is also something we will practice throughout the year.

Math

The goal for this year is for your child to gain a strong foundation in math. We continue to work with numbers from 0 to 10. Your scholar will be comparing numbers 0 to 10 which includes counting one more, two more, one fewer, and two fewer. Also, we will be ordering numbers up to 10 by using a number line.

Science

We are exploring our five senses and how they help us to discover the world. Ask your child what each of these senses are and why they are important!

Religion

This month we have been discussing what makes us special and learning about one another. We are also sharing what we are thankful for through drawing and writing.
