Our Mission: SACNAS is a society dedicated to support and promote the success of Hispanic/Chicano and Native American scientists—from college students to professionals—in attaining advanced degrees, careers, and positions of leadership.

The UCR SACNAS chapter is open to students/professors from all backgrounds. We encourage you to email any of the board members with any questions. We are looking forward for your active participation. Together, we can make a difference and enlighten the scientific world!
No person shall be denied membership because of his/her major, ethnicity, gender, religion, economic background, sexual orientation, disability, etc. Membership shall be open to currently enrolled students, alumni, faculty and staff at UC-Riverside. All members should also be part of the National Chapter, which can be done online at https://www.sacnas.org/confNew/confClient/login.asp

UCR is one of the few research-intensive Hispanic Serving Institutions in the nation and according to U.S. News and World Report (2008-2009), UCR is ranked fifth most ethnically diverse institution in the country The SACNAS chapter at UCR (founded in 2010) will provide invaluable opportunities for students of Hispanic and Native American backgrounds.

  • SACNAS Membership – SACNAS is an inclusive organization, with a membership that represents the range of science, mathematics, technology, and engineering fields and careers. SACNAS serves, supports, and is made up of researchers, students, educators, and administrators at all levels of education and career stage from diverse ethnic, racial, gender, cultural, and sexual orientation backgrounds. Members work and study in academia, industry, government, and nonprofit organizations.
