Welcome to the 2023-24 School Year!
With great artistic ability comes great power! The power to communicate important ideas and feelings with others. This year, of course, brings many challenges and changes to my normal approach to teaching the fine arts but some changes that students are seeing are ones that I welcome as the start of a new tradition. Every year I change my art room theme! This year I will be asking students to do artwork that connects to my theme of Magic and Illusion! There is so much magic all around us in nature and in our history. There is heaps of magic found in our myths and our favorite stories. Included are magical people, animals, items and each have a host of different magic abilities! You can look to see how my art assignments and challenges will engage with this theme as the year goes on.
My name is Mr. Sloan and I love teaching art to the students here at Cayuga Elementary School!
Every year we explore the elements and principles of art and design.
We look at the great work of contemporary artists and examine work from those masters who have gone before us.
We develop our art making techniques and understanding of art mediums.
To give structure to all of that learning I introduce a different theme for the art room each year.
This year's theme is Magic and Illusion!
