BUGC: 02/06/10: New Weekday Meetings!

posted Feb 6, 2010, 4:38 PM by Unknown user

Our schedule for future meetings will be as follows:

Every Saturday at 4 PM (Majority: 9 votes)

In addition to the Saturday meeting, one weekday meeting each week:
2/11/10 Thursday 8 PM (8 votes for Thursday, 6 for 8 PM)
2/17/10 Wednesday 7 PM (7 votes for Wednesday, 6 for 7 PM)
2/22/10 Monday 6 PM (5 votes for Monday, 4 for 6 PM)

These days were chosen based on popularity and the fact that certain people can only come on certain days. I'm sorry that we can't accommodate for everyone, but you can also go to www.gokgs.com or www.wbaduk.com to play online!

After the 2/22 meeting, we will decide which weekday meeting to keep based on attendance! If it's close, we'll simply keep the rotation of days for the rest of the semester. Come on time to the weekday meetings (or at least give notice via e-mail), since if no one shows up within the first 30-40 minutes or so, I'll leave.

You can find this information (in form of a google calendar) and more on our website! http://sites.google.com/a/sa.binghamton.edu/binghamton-university-go-club/Home

We'll be having our first meeting this semester on Saturday, Jan. 30th, at 4 PM. Same place as last semester: Ground Floor of the Hinman Dining Hall.

As with any good GIM, free food and refreshments will be served!

If you can't make this meeting, be sure to e-mail me back with days and times when you'd be available!

BUGC: 11/12/09: Food and Ideas!

posted Nov 12, 2009, 2:25 PM by Unknown user

Hey, everyone!

This Saturday (11/14) 4pm Hinman Dining Hall, we'll be having pizza courtesy of Papa John's! If there's a topic or drink you'd like us to pick up, e-mail us back ASAP.

Also, if you have any ideas that you want to try, we'd probably be happy to give it a shot!

In addition, if anyone wants to do arts and crafts or just help design it, we have to make a banner for our club when we table. Right now, all we have are flimsy paper ones, so we're looking to upgrade for next semester. ;)

BUGC: 9/18/09: Meetings Every Saturday 4PM

posted Sep 18, 2009, 11:59 AM by Unknown user

Until otherwise noted, the BU Go Club will have meetings every Saturday afternoon, 4 PM in the Hinman Dining Hall (Lower Level).

If there's any interest in having a weekday night meeting as well (especially if you can't go on Saturday), e-mail me back!

Since we didn't get to spend any money on food last week (as per request), we'll be looking to bring food to the table this week (again, assuming people feel like eating this time).

'Officially' join the club at paws.binghamton.edu and check out our website at http://sites.google.com/a/sa.binghamton.edu/binghamton-university-go-club/Home

2/24/09: Current Agenda

posted Feb 24, 2009, 8:27 AM by Unknown user

Here's our agenda for this semester:
  • Issues:
    • Advertising the Club!
      • Attached are two posters we have used for advertising throughout campus.
      • I've used up most of my printing budget making these fliers. If anyone could help print them out and post them up on campus, I would be very grateful!
        • Tips:
          • One per board, only on proper boards (ex: Don't post it up on the Monday Section)
          • They take down posters either every Friday or Sunday, so Monday is a good day to place them up.
          • Lecture Hall and Library are the more obvious places to put them.
      • Also attached is the Pipe Dream advertisement that should air in this Friday's issue, and once a week after that. Any comments on how to improve the ad?
    • E-Board for Next Year!
      • We'll be looking for new E-Board next year! Positions available (in order of responsibility): President, Treasurer, Vice President, Secretary
  • Events:
    • Regular Meetings
      • Saturdays, 1:00PM at Hinman Dining Hall (Lower Level)
      • <Subject to change> Thursdays, 8:00PM at Hinman Dining Hall (Lower Level)
    • Budget Hearing
      • Thursday, March 5, 9:00PM at UUWB08
      • Status: Anyone want to come watch/speak?
    • Japan Night?
      • March?
      • Status: E-mailed BUJA about participation.
    • Syracuse Tournament
      • Saturday, April 18th, 9:00 AM at Manlius Pebble Hill School
      • Pre-register by April 14th, pay only $10. Otherwise, $15.
      • Status: Looking for interested people; will try to pre-register right before Spring Break
    • Cornell University?
      • The go club still exists! Will try to visit this semester.
      • Status: E-mailed Jared Beck about visiting.
    • Anime Club/Chess Club Collaboration?
      • Status: Will look into...
    • End-Of-Semester Tournament?
      • Possible Prizes:
        • Nothing!
        • 3 month subscription to KGS Plus
        • Hikaru no Go manga (Used)
        • Hikaru no Go trinkets (keychain?)
        • Other very cheap things I can obtain easily!

2/11/09: Good Meeting Times?

posted Feb 11, 2009, 8:05 PM by Unknown user

Based on what we've heard from the first meeting, we'll be meeting Saturdays, 1 pm, at the Hinman Dining Hall (Lower Level).

However, like past semesters, we're also looking into having a weekday meeting also. This semester, my classes all end before 7p, so I'm more available. Are there any specific days you'd prefer to meet?
