Are you 24+? Have you heard about the new learning loans available?

Why do I need to take out a loan?

As from April 2014, the government is no longer funding level 3 training if you are aged 24+ and are not on an apprenticeship program.

What is the 24+ loan?

If you are starting a standalone NVQ course you may be eligible for a 24+ advanced learning loan.  This loan would help you pay for your tuition fees for your chosen course.

What courses does it cover?

It covers most learners studying at level 3 and above including Health and Social Care, Supporting Teaching and Learning, Childcare, Business Admin and Hairdressing as well as advanced and higher Apprenticeships.

When can I apply for the loan?

You can apply now.

What will I have to pay back?

If you are earning under £21,000 a year you won’t need to pay back anything, if you start earning over £21,000 then you pay back 9% of any income above the £21,000 a year.

When do re-payments start?

You don’t pay anything back until 2018 irrelevant of what you are earning.

Do I qualify?

You qualify if:

·         You are aged 24 or over on the first day of your course

·         You have lived in the UK for the last 3 years

·         You haven’t had a loan to do the same qualification type and level

How Do I Apply?

The process is very simple – just contact RWP Training to discuss your training requirements, then we will advise you of the loan amount you need for the course you wish to undertake. Once you know how much you need to borrow, visit the Student Finance England website, where you can apply online.  Your household income isn’t taken into account, and there is no credit check needed.   For more info visit www.gov.uk/advanced-learner-loan
