Dr Alqasem is a graduate of the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland, has a Master’s degree in Medical ethics from McGill University in Canada and a PhD in Medical Ethics from Keele University in the United Kingdom. Dr Alqasem has been working at NHRA since 2012 as chief of the medical complaints office, and was appointed as chief of health professionals’ regulations department in 2015. She chairs the physician and dentists’ disciplinary committee and the clinical trials ethics committee. She is also a team leader for the national accreditation program launched by NHRA in 2017. Prior to joining NHRA,
Dr. Alqasem worked at King Saud University Hospital in Riyadh, KSA as an ethics consultant and prior to that she worked at the Ministry of Health in the Kingdom of Bahrain where she was in charge of the complaints office. Dr Alqasem published an article in 2018 with several other authors in the International Journal of Emergency Medicine with the title Emergency Medicine in the Kingdom of Bahrain.
