Daniel R. Vasgird, PhD

Director Emeritus, Office of Research Integrity & Compliance, West Virginia University

Dr. Vasgird is a research compliance and integrity professional with experience serving in public, private, and nonprofit environments. He is the Director Emeritus of West Virginia University’s Office of Research Integrity & Compliance (ORIC). Prior to his time at WVU, he had been the Director of the Office for Research Compliance Services for the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and the Director of the Office for Responsible Conduct of Research for Columbia University. He is a Certified IRB Professional (CIP), Certified VA Human Research Protection Accreditation Program Surveyor, and a senior public health educator.

Dr. Vasgird has held teaching positions at CUNY, SUNY Downstate Medical School, Columbia University School of Public Health, and WVU School of Public Health. Additionally, he has served as a lecturer for the US Department of Defense. Dr. Vasgird’s particular expertise is in government & academic project management, including policy development, planning, evaluation, human research protection, budget, staff relations, and legislative coordination.
