Routing and delivery of messages to users within TeleWeaver
SupervisorsAlfredo Terzoli and Mosiuoa Tsietsi

Abstract
Targeted messaging involves tailoring communication messages for a particular audience. The message has to talk to the audience directly and invoke an emotional attachment in order for it to be successful and for that reason it is important that the communication is designed for the individual, based on available information about the user.

Teleweaver is an application integration platform prototyped within the Siyakhula Living Lab, a long term, multi-disciplinary project for the diffusion of sustainable ICT infrastructure in marginalized areas. This research project is about adding to TeleWeaver a mechanism that enables targeted messaging to reach TeleWeaver users.

The addition of an appropriate mechanism is realized through a series of experiments leading to a final prototype system. These experiments involved exploring the existing components within Teleweaver that could be utilized to enable targeted messaging,  setting up an H2 database using the Hibernate framework project, filtering the openLDAP directory and finally putting it all together and delivering the messages to the TeleWeaver users when they log in into the computing infrastructure hosting TeleWeaver.
