Grade 6 French

Bonjour tout le monde!

Ici, vous pouvez trouver beaucoup d'information au sujet de la classe de français!

(Here you can find lots of information about class topics!)

During April, we will be working on the following areas:

Reading

-identifying different professions and the characteristics one needs for a specific profession (e.g., Pour être artiste, il faut être calme et créatif.  To be an artist, one must be calm and creative).
-knowing the names of different kinds of foods in grocery stores and restaurants (e.g., les pommes - apples; la soupe et des pâtes - soup and pasta)
-reviewing numbers, adjectives (e.g., size, colour and number) and the vocabulary used in different kinds of questions (e.g., Combien de...? This means 'How many/much?'  'Pourquoi est-ce qu'il y a...' 'Why is there/are there?')

Writing

-conjugate different verbs (e.g., vouloir - to want; avoir - to have and être which means 'to be).
-writing words that demonstrate an understanding of vocabulary (e.g., food, numbers and clothing)
-writing sentences about you and other people (e.g., Je suis grande.  Je porte un jean et un t-shirt)

Oral Communication

-answer questions in class
-participate during class discussions
-demonstrate an understanding of how to order food in a restaurant or another setting
-pose different questions about topics and images (e.g., Qu'est-ce que c'est?  What is it?  Où sont-ils?  Where are they?  Qu'est-ce qu'ils portent?  What are they wearing?)

Media Literacy

- I will post the expectation for Media Literacy in April or early May.

This link allows you to access and print different French worksheets. The sheets contain topics and concepts your child can practise:

I have sent and will continue to send different links to French websites that will allow your child to practise different areas of French (e.g., listening and reading).  These will be sent to your child's gmail account.

If you have any questions, please contact me through your child's agenda, a phone call or an e-mail.

Au revoir!
