Tips for Grade 8

posted Jun 15, 2016, 3:38 PM by Unknown user   [ updated Jun 15, 2016, 3:40 PM by Unknown user ]

  1. You'll get a lot of HOMEWORK. The best way to get it done quick is not to wait until the last day it's due before. Work on every homework you have due later EVERYDAY. I know it sounds hard but it's much better than having to sit on your chair with your soily decomposing bottom, and your eyes burning from having to work on your laptop so much the day before the assignment you're working on is due.
  2. You will have to do a lot of presentations. So raise that self-esteem and practice having to talk in front of the whole class without stuttering and nervously shaking.
  3. Stay OPTIMISTIC. You never know, you're assignment's due the next day and your friend says that he'll do his part of the assignment since it's a group assignment. Both of you show up to school the next day and all of the sudden he acts nicer to you than he ever has. All the sudden he starts throwing excuses to you about how busy and rough the day before was to them. So he isn't going to do his work and you have to do it for him and ruin YOUR weekend working for him. If you stay depressed, be confused and can't think straight, get that out of your mind and reach the situation with an open mind or else it all wouldn't work out right. Stop thinking about how you could've been playing video games and JUST DO IT. Get it over with. That's why staying optimistic is important.
  4. Math will get hard but as long as you take notes, do your homework, jot down important things, and study daily and have Mr. Stroud as your math teacher you'll end up with a -4 atleast. (the last one isn't mandatory)

Cincinnati Zoo Incident

posted Jun 4, 2016, 9:16 AM by Unknown user   [ updated Jun 4, 2016, 9:38 AM by Unknown user ]

On May 28 2016, at the Cincinnati zoo a 4 year old boy fell into a gorilla's habitat. This video shows what happened. The gorilla was a 17 year old silver-back. The video shows that the gorilla was violently dragging him across the sheet of water, but zoo experts say that he didn't know how to take care of humans, and might have been trying to save the child. The zoo had to come to a decision to kill the gorilla since he wasn't going to hand it over like one gorilla did in 1996 where an 8 year old fell into a habitat of gorillas and a mother gorilla protected the boy and handed it over. Also a trampolizer would have taken way too long and put the child in danger. People have had different opinions on the decision to kill the gorilla but Jack Hanna says that in the clip it shows people screaming which alarms the 17 year old gorilla. He also says in other words that the gorilla could've harmed the child really badly so the action taken was reasonable.

Different provinces are donating and helping out for the cause:

Ottawa is sending air vehicles along with 13,000 COTS in case of emergencies and individual donations. Alberta is giving away debit cards to assist with affording food and shelter. Each adult received $1,250, and dependents got $500 each. In total $1,000,000 will be spent on the people. Like that each province will help out for the cause.

World's Best Invention

  • The wheel is the most important instrument.
  • Without the wheel, there would be no cars, pulleys, computer mouses, clocks, machinery and a lot more important things.
  • The wheel was invented 3500 B.C. and they were not used for anything as useful as we use it now for except, it was used for pottery as the base that spins.
  • "The oldest recovered specimen is a wooden Slovenian model built sometime between 5,100 and 5,350 years ago."(mentalfloss)
  • The wheel is useless unless it's attached to a car an axle or something that makes it useful, but for some reason, mankind did not realize that benefit of the wheel as soon as you think.
  • You can use wheels as fulcrums and transportation devices while they produce mechanical advantage(M.A.).
  • Wheels help improve technology. For example, the machine that produces energy attached to a wheel that is spun by the force of the river it's partially in.
  • Wheels and circles are in our everyday life from glasses that are shaped circular to improve grip to the ending nose of a turbine that is circular so it compresses the air to have more force to push the plane forwards.
  • The insides of jugs are also circles because when pouring a liquid out if flat, the liquid would go all over the place but when it's circular the liquid is forced to go in a straight line unless a force acts upon it.
  • Simple things in life are circular for a reason that most people don't care about.
