CLASSROOM EXPECTATIONS FOR

VOICE VOLUME OR NOISE LEVEL



LEVEL 0: VOICE VOLUME = SILENT: no voices or talking, assessment, independent work time, USSR, USSW, conferences, O Canada, Announcements, Attendance


LEVEL 1: VOICE VOLUME = WHISPER: low voice, partner work, completion of agenda


LEVEL 2: VOICE VOLUME = LOW: inside voice, conversation, table/group work


LEVEL 3: VOICE VOLUME = MODERATE/FORMAL/NORMAL: regular speaking voice, class or large-group discussion


LEVEL 4: VOICE VOLUME = LOUD: presenting voice, everyone can hear you, (may result in an individual/team consequence for inappropriate behaviour)


LEVEL 5: VOICE VOLUME =YELLING: screaming voice, shouting, playground, out of control, never used inside (will result in an individual/team consequence for inappropriate behaviour)



CONSEQUENCES OF INAPPROPRIATE BEHAVIOUR

The aim of this classroom is to provide a safe and supportive environment for learning and teaching.  Through a variety of formats, including many team (COMPLIMENTS free period, Popcorn/Lollipop Friday) and individual rewards, students will be encouraged to behave appropriately and responsibly.  In the event that a student behaves inappropriately, the following is the routine.

 

THREE STRIKES

Student receives a Verbal Warning and Name on Whiteboard.  If inappropriate behaviour continuesÞCheck Marks above nameÞAfter 3 Check Marks above name, the student will comply with one or more of the following:

 

1.      Detention and Student-Teacher Conference

2.      Referral to the Behavioural Teaching Assistant

3.      Student-Teacher-Parent Conference
