Dorothy Canfield Fisher Book Award

2013 Battle of the Books!
Have you been reading DCF books?  Would you like to compete on a district team, answering questions about DCF books, in front of a live audience?  You'll get a nifty prize package, a team t-shirt, free lunch and a great experience with other kids who love to read!
To qualify for the team, you need to read and log at least 8 of this year's DCF books.  If you read and log more than 8, you'll get another entry into the team lottery for every "extra" book.
Want to check it out, but not sure you want to be on the team?  If you read and log at least 5 DCF books, you will be qualified to attend the Battle as an audience member.  The Battle is scheduled for April 26, 2013 in the MRU auditorium.
Ready to log some books?  See your Reading or English teacher.   Check out the Battle of the Books website for more information about this year's DCF books and the Battle!

First given in 1957, the Dorothy Canfield Fisher Children's Book Award has honored quality literature for children for 50 years.  Each spring, a committee of eight carefully selects 30 books to comprise the DCF Master List.  After reading at least 5 books from the list, students then vote for their favorite titles the following spring.  The winning author is invited to visit Vermont to speak with children about the experience of writing such fine literature for such fine people.
