The Living History Docent Program is an innovative collaborative program with Stellar Charter School and Shasta State Historic Park. Docents are registered with the California State Parks as volunteers in parks. The goal of the program is to make the history of Shasta during its boom years (1850-1860) come alive for visitors to Shasta State Park. Docents dress in authentic period clothing and portray actual prominent pioneers of Shasta. The Docents begin preparing for their role and activities in October in order to be ready for the touring schools visiting Shasta State Historical Park in February.
