Dear Students and Parents,
Welcome everyone to the 2017-18 school year.  My name is Teena Schnier and I am proud to say that I have been teaching Physical Education and Wellness at Laurel Mountain for eleven years.  I am excited about starting this new school year!

I have experience as an elementary, middle, and high school Physical Education teacher, as a basketball and golf coach, and athletic director.  It has been rewarding to teach in Texas, Virginia, Minnesota, as well as internationally in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

I chose to be a Physical Education teacher because I care for young people and I delight in watching them accomplish skills right in front of me.  I love sports and I aspire to pass that passion on to my students. One of my 5th grade boys wrote last May, " it is obvious that you are passionate about golf.  I am glad that you taught me the quarter swing, because now I can play golf too."

My goal is to guide our students in the process of becoming physically active, and emotionally and socially healthy for a lifetime. I want to empower them by encouraging independence and a "can do" attitude.  We practice "Teamwork works"!

I have three wonderful sons, Will, Spencer, and Brent, and two loving daughters-in-law, Angelica (married to Spencer), and Jane (married to Will).  My super step granddaughter, Grace, is ten years old. I have two grandsons, Theodore, age 2, and William, 10 months old.

I spend my free time playing golf, gardening, and walking a three mile loop at Town Lake with teacher friends on Saturday mornings.  I love to eat a healthy breakfast every morning , giving me a good start to my day.

Even though I demonstrate the value of team sports, I make it a priority to introduce individual sports/activities such as bowling, tennis, golf, badminton, and martial arts. We always have fun in PE class.  Parents, please join us by volunteering in our running program, Field Day, our annual Lion Track Meet, or any other activities that we sponsor throughout the year.  Feel free to call or drop by the PE office in the gym at anytime.  Our Physical Education team is always available.

Go and grow LME Lions!
