    Moving Forward...

Math...Working with teen numbers, skip counting (10s, 5s, 2s), using the "count on" strategy

Literacy...fables, characters, continuing Writer's Workshop expectations, spelling with the short "a" sound, handwriting practice

Science/Social Studies...tools in and around a science lab, How does our brain work?

    Stuff and Things...

Parent Conferences...Be sure to use the link on the sidebar to sign up for a fall goal setting conference. The district has set aside Tuesday, October 10 for conferences this year. Please make time on that day for us to meet. I am looking forward to meeting with each family to set goals for your child for this year.

Snack...don't forget to send in a small, healthy snack each day. We had some tears this week from a few that didn't have a snack during snack time recently. Remember the best snack to have during work time are dry easy to eat finger food (fruit, veggies, crackers, etc). Please avoid chips, foods with dips or lots of icing and candy as well as anything that requires a spoon to eat. Those would be better choices for lunchtime. Thank you for your help with this.

Water bottles...It is hot at recess and we play hard! Please remember to send a labeled water bottle with your gnome each day to take out to recess.

Car Rider Window Tags...If you pick up your child in the car rider line, we ask that you create and print a window tag to display on the passenger side of your car each day. On the sign please include: First Name, Last Name and Grade of any students you are picking up. These tags help expedite our dismissal process. We thank you for your help with this matter!

Let's Have Fun at the Family Picnic - Friday, Sep 15
Kick off the school year at the annual Family Picnic. There will be a magician, a juggler, and face painters, oh my! All this fun, at no cost to you. There will also be food for purchase from food trucks that provide pizzas, tacos, and empanadas (with vegetarian options too), and of course, the kids' favorite: Kona Ice!

It's an event organized by the PTA so you can get to know new classmates and their parents. Or have a fun, relaxing night just chilling out with friends and neighbors. Sounds like a great time right? That's because it is! Don't miss out—come join us on Sep 15, 5:30-7:30PM.

Please have your gnome practice the words and other words in this pattern at home in preparation for the post assessment on Friday. You do not need to turn in any work you do.
