What we Learned This Week:

Science- This week we learned the difference between Weather & Climate.  Next week we review the Water Cycle, Weather & Climate and test on Wednesday, Feb.7th. On Thursday and Friday, we will review the Scientific Method/Inquiry. Science homework will come home today and is due next Friday.

Math -We finished multiplying and dividing and tested. Next week we will talk about the coordinate plane, order pairs and begin Scatterplots.  Math homework will come home today and is due the following Friday. I highly recommend that you have your child complete it over the weekend and not wait until Thursday night.  It will consist of 10 spiraled questions. Please have your student show all work on a separate piece of paper (or on the back of the homework). This is intended as an additional layer of math review before the STAAR. Thank you for supporting this additional work from home.

Writing-We continued our daily grammar practice and students finished writing a

persuasive essay.

Reading-Students learned 10 new vocabulary words this week and three new roots.  We will continue with those words next week.  We also completed our persuasive unit this week and move into STAAR ready next week, reviewing context clues.  Students will take their STAAR ready exam next Friday.  This will allow me to see what they are struggling with and what we still need to focus on before the actual STAAR exam in April.

Social Studies-We completed our unit by learning about the Oregon Trail and the Gold Rush.  Students will complete a review and test on February 16th.
