512-704-1854        Precalculus

I am Steve Kutz and will be teaching Precalculus for the 2015-2016 school year. I graduated with a B.S. in Biology and was 12 hours short of completing my Electrical Engineering B.S. from the University of Texas Arlington when I moved to Austin to work for a major computer company. Ten years later, I left the corporate world to start my teaching career. I have also recently completed a degree in Technical Communication and hope to incorporate a lot of different technologies into our curriculum.

As a reformed hater of math( I struggled with high school math), I am looking forward to helping students develop their confidence and skills in applying math to relevant and current types of situations. Students are also expected to learn how to communicate mathematically with writing and words in a collaborative team environment. My goal is for students to have a solid foundation for success college or other endeavors. Along the way, I also hope to challenge students to grow and develop confidence that can be applied beyond math and the classroom.

I have a constantly happy Labrador Retriever(my Precal theorapy Dog). Also, I enjoy spending my free time in my music studio where I program synthesizers, compose and arrange music, and learn new techniques to create cool sounds. I am big fan of Ableton Live and Native Instruments. Finally, I am also a Javascript nerd and have fun developing and implementing interactive & engaging learning environments with real-time feedback, dashboards, and always with some attempt to include entertainment and humor.
