White Days: 6th Block from 10:42 AM to 12:17 PM

Tutoring
To make the best use of tutorial time, I expect you to make an appointment 
for tutoring with me.  Please email me indicating the date and time when you 
would prefer to meet as well as specific concerns, questions, items that we 
will be addressing.  (If you are unable to email me, please provide me with 
this information in a note at an appropriate time during class or the school 
day.)  I will respond to confirm our appointment or to suggest another time.

Please keep in mind that if you email me late in the evening for an 
appointment the next morning.  I most likely will be unable to confirm our 
appointment.

Finally, walk-ins are welcome.  However, students with appointments have 
priority over walk-ins.

Tutoring appointments can be made during the following times:
8:15 to 8:40 AM.  Ends at 8:50 AM.  (Not available on Thursdays.)


IB Prep World Area Studies Grading Policy
Marking Period Grades
Formative Assessments =  45%. 
These assessments include:  quizzes, in-class assignments, and homework assignments.

Summative Assessments = 45% .  
* These assessments include:  multiple-choice tests, essays, and projects.

Preparation/Processing = 10%.  
* Successful completion of assignments to prepare you for class and assignments to synthesize your learning at the end of a lesson.
       
Retakes/Redos
Retake opportunities are limited to the following:
*  One failed (below 70) formative assessment retake per marking period
*  Two failed (below 70) summative assessments retakes per semester.

Student Absences and Late Work
You receive a one-block extension for each class meeting missed due to an absence. Please note that, on the day you return to class, I expect you to turn in work that was due on the day you were initially absent.

You will lose 10 points on the 100-point scale on an assignment for each school day that it is late. 
If you turn in an assignment three or more school days after it was 
due AND before the last day of the marking period, the highest grade you can 
earn is a 70 on that assignment.

IB European History I Grading Policy
Marking Period Grades
Formative Assessments =  50%. 
These assessments include:  quizzes, in-class assignments, and homework assignments.
* The lowest formative assessment is dropped each marking period.

Summative Assessments = 50% .  
* These assessments include:  multiple-choice tests, long essays, document-based essays, and short-answer responses.
        
Retakes/Redos
Retake opportunities are limited to the following:
*  One failed (below 70) summative-assessment retake per semester.

Late Work
Late work is accepted. You can earn a maximum grade of 75% on the 100-point scale.
