¡Saludos a todos mis “Panther Parents”!  Please allow me to introduce myself.  In addition to being your child’s Spanish teacher and Ridgeview’s LOTE (Languages Other Than English) Department Chair, I am also a WEB sponsor and Mommy to one furry, four-legged child (Riley).  I am a proud product of Round Rock ISD schools and I have taught Spanish for over a decade here at Ridgeview (including Ridgeview alumni from many of your families!).  I look forward to meeting you and teaching your students this year and I anticipate an exciting, productive, and successful year.

During the course of the year, we will explore the Spanish language and culture in many forms.  This course is designed to prepare students to be able to listen to, speak, read, and write Spanish.  Moreover, the class is designed to prepare your student for High School.  Students will have many opportunities to:

·         Learn and use a variety of vocabulary terms and phrases

·         Learn about the people and cultures of the Spanish-speaking world

·         Speak and in complete Spanish sentences and respond to spoken Spanish

·         earn 1 H.S. credit for foreign language after passing Spanish 1a AND 1b

·         learn & develop skills to become lifelong independent learners

In order for your student to succeed in Spanish class, they will need to study and practice speaking Spanish at home using the concepts being studied at that time on a daily basis.  ALL Spanish students should expect to spend up to 1 hour studying and completing homework every night.  If no homework is assigned, students should review their notes, textbook, and any checked assignments/ assessments.

I look forward to working with you and your student this year.  Please don’t hesitate to contact me with any questions, concerns, or feedback and thank you for entrusting me with your amazing student(s).
