Dance 1-4

Placement begins in Dance I and moves up after each year of completion. No audition or experience is required to start in Dance I. All dance courses will require specific attire. Attendance is required at all rehearsals and performances outside normal school hours. Performances take place both Fall and Spring semester.

In these classes we will study many styles of dance such as jazz, modern, ballet, lyrical, hip-hop, tap, folk, ballroom, partner, and other styles from countries around the world. We will also learn about famous dancers and choreographers, costuming and makeup, how to critique and analyze dance performances, and your student will also get to be a choreographer. There will be two mandatory performances, “Intersection” in October/November and our annual Spring Show in which your student will participate. Please see the attached syllabus for the specific requirements for class.
