Recent Announcements

  • Buy To Kill a Mockingbird. We will begin the novel To Kill a Mockingbird after the winter break. Each Pre-AP/IB student needs to have their own copy to annotate. If you cannot obtain a copy, please let me know.Otherwise, I recommend calling local bookstores ahead to reserve or hold your copy. You also have plenty of time to order it online. You may use an old copy, but keep in mind, you will have to do new annotations. Electronic copies are also acceptable, however, annotations will then need to be done separately by hand.

  • Week of December 5 - 9 This week we will examine what makes a 'good' paragraph by looking at Topic Sentences, Concluding Sentences, Concrete Details and Commentary.We will also begin our own Expository Essay. First we will build our body paragraphs through the use of graphic organizers.Next, we will complete our introductions and conclusions and put the whole essay together.There will be four google classroom assignments over the course of the week. First is the Essay Analysis.Second is the Shaping Sheets for the Body Paragraphs.Third will be Introductions and Conclusions.Finally, the essay itself.   • Week of November 28 - December 2 Beginning the week we will have a poetry recitation, the "Poetry Cafe". We will then dive into expository writing. Don't forget to come prepared with you poems on Monday and Tuesday! Instructions are posted on Google classroom. If you don't have time to print before class, you can use your phone.

  • Week of 10/31 - 11/4 Due: Google Classroom Dialectical Journal: 11/3 by 8 am, B Day, 11/4 by 8 am, A Day"I Am" Sonnet: 11/7, B Day, 11/8, A DayThis week we will take the Common Assessment for the six weeks and take a 'character' quiz on Romeo and Juliet. We will finish our examination of the play and prepare for next weeks project.
