WELCOME TO Pukaki 4 Y7 and Y8 extension class

Pukaki 4 are a composite class of Year 7 and Year 8 extension students, sharing a flexible learning space and two teachers, Whaea Karin and Whaea Jordyn.  We are proud to be members of Pukaki Whanau which is named after Ngati Whakaue Koromatua Pukaki, renowned warrior and leader.

Whaea Karin and Whaea Jordyn team teach Pukaki 4 and are looking forward to an amazing year.

The middle years are a time of many physical, mental, emotional and social changes. Our objective as teachers of a flexible learning environment, catering to two year levels, is to establish an environment that meets the developmental and educational needs of every student.  There are five key components that we use to establish such a learning environment: Teaching resilience; Fostering perseverance; Teaching growth mindset; Learning from failure; Managing stress.

Both of us have shared responsibility for the planning, delivery and assessment of learning in the class across all students.  We also have high expectations for each of our students, acknowledging that we all learn, create and express ideas in different ways.  It is our objective that every student  through a variety of collaborative and independent learning all develop valuable life skills.

e kore tō tātou waka e ū ki uta.

Don’t paddle out of unison;
our canoe will never reach the shore.
