Faculty and Staff Switch to New Email and Calendar Platform
Google Apps for Education - Effective June 11, 2012!
In an effort to provide better email services to members of the RFU community, offer a new set of tools for academic collaboration, and achieve savings for the University, Information Technology Services is pleased to announce the release of Google Apps for Education to faculty and staff on Monday, June 11, 2012.
Please note that on Monday, June 11th, University email, calendars, and contacts will be accessed through Google. You will no longer log in through Microsoft Outlook or Entourage to access these resources.
In preparation for Monday’s Go-Live, Information Technology has spent the past several weeks migrating existing email from the current email platform to your new Google Gmail account. Over this upcoming weekend, remaining email, calendars and personal contacts will also migrated to your new Google Apps account.
Current RFU email addresses will not be affected by the change and you will continue to use your HelixNet login (username and password) to access your account.
How do I sign in to Google Apps?
In any web browser, go to: http://www.google.com/a/rosalindfranklin.edu and log in with your HelixNet username and password. The first time you log in, you'll be asked to take a moment to set up your account. Alternatively, you can log in via http://www.gmail.com by entering your full email address as your username (example: email@example.com) and entering your HelixNet password.
In addition to accessing your Google Apps account via the links provided above, a login shortcut labeled “RFU Google Apps” will be added remotely to University PC desktops over the weekend.
Where can I get more information about Google Apps functionality and training opportunities?
The Going Google End-User Adoption Site is a one-stop shop for self-service training. The site contains a wealth of content to accelerate adoption and augment user training. Content includes recorded video training sessions, a library of tips and tricks, FAQs, instructions for mobile setup, and more.
