Middle School Is Cool!
Wow! I cannot believe that I have been in the Rockingham County school system for 30 years! Yes, I have grown up and attended elementary, middle, and high school in Eden.
Not only have I attended school in the RCS district, but the Rockingham County Schools System has been my employer for 15 years. My career began at Draper elementary where I taught 5th grade for 2 yrs. I then moved up the road to Douglass where I taught 5th grade for 4 years and completed National Board Certification. In 2001 I graduated to Rockingham County Middle School and taught 6th grade math for 7 years. It was in 2008 when I joined the RCS Instructional Technology Specialist team.
I love working with teachers and helping them learn about the new and exciting resources that are available to them and their students. I think that technology is really cool, but teachers are much cooler! It is my desire to help the middle school teachers of RCS integrate technology in their classrooms in order to make their jobs easier, to help them to collaborate with peers locally as well as globally, and to improve student performance.
I have been blessed with a wonderful family. My husband and I have been married for 19 years and have a beautiful son that is in 2nd grade at Leakesville Spray Elementary. As you have probably figured out, I also enjoy working with horses. Recently, reading has become a new passion of mine. I read to escape to new worlds and to learn how to better serve the teachers and students that I work with. The more I learn the more I have come to realize that I don't know very much! I am a life long learner and l have a passion to continue to grow to become a better teacher, parent, and friend.
