What's Going On...

  • Energy Use
What is the difference between an incandescent light bulb and an LED bulb? The answer is a lot more than you might think. Students recently worked with our friends at VEEP to learn about the amount of electricity that is needed to light an older incandescent bulb versus a new LED bulb, and the savings associated with that. They learned how we harness electricity from the energy that is all around us. Students also participated in an energy audit of their house and received six LED bulbs for their work. :)

  • Heart Dissection
We just finished up our studies on the circulatory system and our learning target was, "I can identify the parts of the heart, how it works and why it is such an amazing organ". One of our activities to help us better understand was a sheep heart dissection. The students were broken into four groups and used a checklist to attempt to identify the parts of their sheep heart.
