If you have not renewed your license since 2014, here are some of the changes you will see:
No more IPDP, IPLP, portfolio or written reflections.

What is your situation?

I have a Level 2 License , BUT I have an endorsement on my license that is still at a level 1 AND I have NOT been using that endorsement for the last three years.

I have a Level 2 License , BUT I have an endorsement on my license that is still at a Level 1 AND I HAVE been using that Level 1 endorsement for the last 3 years.

I have a Level 2 License and all of my endorsements are Level 2 as well.

What am I going to do?

A.  If your Level 1 Endorsement is the only part of your license up for renewal you will be renewing it as a Level 1.  Your Level 2 Endorsements are not up for renewal at this time.

B.  If your Level 1 Endorsement has the same expiration date as your Level 2 Endorsement(s), you will be renewing them both.  Your Level 1 will renew as a Level 1 and your Level 2 will renew as a Level 2.

A.  If your Level 1 Endorsement is the only part of your license up for renewal you will be moving that Endorsement to a level 2.  Your Level 1 Endorsement will have the same expiration date as the Level 2 Endorsements and you will pay a prorated amount to renew.

B.  If your Level 1 Endorsement has the same expiration date as your Level 2 Endorsement(s), you will be renewing them all together.  Your Level 1 will be moving to a level 2 AND your Level 2's will be renewed.  You will pay the same cost as renewing a Level 2 license.

You will be renewing your Level 2 license.

How many hours of professional development are needed to relicense?

A.  You will need 45 licensing hours (3 credits) to renew your Level 1 endorsement.  Please follow the guidelines for renewing a Level 1 License with an endorsement that you HAVE NOT been using for the last three years.

B.  You will need 135 licensing hours (9 credits) to renew both your Level 1 and Level 2 endorsements.  The credits can overlap.  You DO NOT need 135 for each endorsement, just 135 total.  Within those 135 hours, you will need to meet the requirements put forth in the guidelines for BOTH the level 1 license renewal that you HAVE NOT been using for the last three years AND a Level 2 license that has all Level 2 endorsements.

135 licensing hours (9 credits) are required.  At least 45 of the hours (3 credits) must align with the content and knowledge standards of each of your endorsements.  These hours need to have been completed during the last seven years.  A list of approved professional development activities is attached below.  Most professional development activities are limited to 45 hours.  There are exceptions, however.  Contact your LSB rep or the VT DOE to find out more.
