Drawing and Painting

Drawing and Painting is an intense study of observational drawing skills and painting. During the first half of the semester students will focus on drawing: still life, figure drawing, one and two point perspective, and how to use color and space in abstract or non-representational ways. The second half of the semester will be spent focusing on painting skills. Students will work with watercolor and acrylic paints. They will learn how to work on a variety of surfaces and textures including watercolor paper, canvas, gesso panel, and more. Near the end of the semester students will assess their work, choose their strongest pieces to showcase, and create a display within the school.
