Important Update Regarding Illnesses

We ask your help so that we may work together to help control the spread of illnesses.

It is  recommended that you bring your child to their medical provider if they have a fever for more than 24 hours and a cough and/or sore throat.

The following guidelines may offer you some help in your decision whether to keep your child home or not.

·        Always keep your child at home if they have an elevated temperature of 100 or above.  Temperatures should be normal for at least 24 hours (without fever reducing medications) before he/she returns to school.  Children with a temperature of 100 or above cannot stay in school, and parents will be notified to pick them up.

·        If your child has been diagnosed with influenza they need to stay home for 4-7 days depending on when they are fever free for 48 hours with no fever reducers and or a doctor’s note to return to school.

·        If your child has vomited or had diarrhea, please keep him/her home until 24 hours after the last episode.

·        Strep Throat:  Children need to stay at home for 24 hours after antibiotic treatment begins and they are without a fever.

·        Please notify the school if your child develops a communicable disease (Influenza, strep throat, chicken pox, head lice, impetigo, pink eye, etc.)

·        If your child becomes ill or is injured during the school day, you will be notified so arrangements can be made for your child to be taken home.  If they have a fever or are vomiting they will not be able to come back to school until after 24 hours fever free or no vomiting.

·        It is very important that you please notify the school if your phone number changes so that we may contact you in case of emergency, school closings, or if your child becomes sick during the school day.
