Animal Opinions in Mrs. Greeno's First Grade

posted Mar 28, 2016, 5:54 AM by Hannah Fjeld

First graders in Mrs. Greeno's class have been working on a research project during class and library time. They found information about an animal using the PebbleGo database, and used that information to support their opinion that it is their favorite animal. After creating their opinions and some awesome illustrations to go along with them, they used the app 30hands to create and narrate a slideshow of their opinions. Check out their work below!

Terry Lynn Johnson visit

posted Feb 3, 2016, 5:05 AM by Hannah Fjeld

On Monday, January 25th, Neshobe was lucky to have a visit from Terry Lynn Johnson, author of the current Dorothy Canfield Fisher nominated book Ice Dogs. Terry shared about her experience becoming a writer, and the first (hilarious) story she had published in a magazine. We learned about dogsledding from Terry, and she even had several teams of students compete in short dogsled races!

Thank you Terry, we loved your visit and we love your book!

Destiny Quest

posted Feb 2, 2016, 12:30 PM by Hannah Fjeld

Did you know that you can log in to Destiny, and it will take you to Destiny Quest---a social-networking site where students and teachers can connect about books? The Neshobe 5th graders just started learning about Destiny Quest, and they are already avidly recommending books to one another, posting reviews of their favorite books, and putting holds on books they want to read.

Curious? Ask a 5th grader or Ms. Fjeld to learn more about Destiny Quest!

Hermit Crabs in the Neshobe Library!

posted Feb 2, 2016, 12:08 PM by Hannah Fjeld

Blue Seal Feeds in Brandon generously donated an enormous hermit crab tank with all the necessary accouterments to the library in January. Students are excited to observe and care for the crabs when they visit the library with their classes.

We started out with three crabs, but more have mysteriously appeared! There are now probably 10 hermit crabs living in the tank, all watched over by the Hermit Storm Trooper, Crab Patrol.

Here's a photo of Mrs. Stoner's class with the new tank:
