Spring is here! And with it comes Square 1 Art! Parents and families who ordered products can expect them to be sent home with students this week (probably Thursday, May 2nd). Thanks you to all the families who participated in this important PTO fundraiser.

During May 6th Grade is working on a graffiti project. They are learning about Artists who do their work in public spaces, lettering as an art-form, and creating different values and gradients with acrylic paint. Their work will be on display at their graduation ceremony. 5th Grade students have worked in small groups to create miniature-golf courses. They will be playable and a nine-hole course will soon be open (for a very limited time) to the public. They are currently putting the finishing touches on their constructions and the course will be unveiled at this years Celebration of Student Learning. 4th Grade is also working on a group project that will on display for the Celebration of Student Learning. 4th Graders are celebrating their learning about Vermont (a theme for them this year) by creating a large Vermont timeline mural. It will teach viewers about Vermont's history from prehistoric times to modern day. 3rd Grade is finishing up work on their clay coil pots. This is actually their second coil pot, because they made one in kindergarten, but the new coil pots are more complex in their construction and celebrate one of this years Red Clover books, Swirl by Swirl, which is a GREAT book. The Primary Grades and Kindergarten will be working on a variety of Spring-themed projects that focus on learning about line, shape, pattern, color, and even some 3D construction techniques. All the good stuff!

In other news, I missed the last week of school because I was home with a new baby (!) and would like to thank the students and guest teachers for doing such great work in my absence. Below is a picture of the newest member of the Neshobe family, Sigourney Anne Brodowski.
