Hello Everyone! The choice-based art online portfolios continue to evolve... some students (see Grace C.) have done a meticulous job maintaining their portfolios, while others are still building the habit. Before the winter break the choice-based art students were given a quick survey and asked to share something they'd learned since beginning choice-based art. Here are just some of their responses:
  • “I’ve learned that inventing things is very fun.”

  • “I’ve discovered that art is fun just to explore and experiment. I have come up with lots of ideas by doing those two things.”

  • “I learned that I am more artistic than I thought I was.”

  • “I discovered that when you work hard and put a lot of effort in the thing you are making when you are done you feel proud and all the working you did pays off.”

  • “I discovered that you can make things that haven’t been invented with the things around you.”

  • “A thing that I learned was that sometimes you can’t make things as complicated as you want.”

  • “I discovered you’ll appreciate a lot more if you stick with it and work hard on it.”

  • “I have discovered how to access inspiration from my emotions and thinking of creative IDEAS from my doodles and the world around me.”

In other news, most classes are working on, or have recently finished their Square One Art projects. Order forms for this years projects should go home around March 24 or so. The opening of Brandon Artists' Guild annual student art show will be taking place this Friday (February 6th) from 5-7 PM. The show will be up all month and can also be viewed during any of the galleries normal daytime hours.
